To be able to effectively trade stocks, regardless of your experience level, the one thing you can’t get enough of is information. In fact, you’ll need mountains of information to make good stock picks and even more information to know when to enter and exit trades. However, all of this information comes at a price, your time. You can literally spend hours upon hours conducting market research. If you’re like most people though, you have other things to do. You may have a regular day job as well as family and community commitments. Who has time to worry about stock market research?
Fortunately, there are several companies out there that make stock market investing software packages. These programs automate much of the stock investing research you would normally do and allow you to free up much of your time for other pursuits. But which one do you choose? There are so many great options out there that deciding on just one can be quite a challenge. We’ll take a quick look at two of the more popular stock trading software packages to see what great options they have.
Optimal Trader – Optimal Trader is one of the newer stock investing software packages. It was first brought to market in 2007 and includes such market analysis tools as Stochastic Oscillator, Stochastic Inverse, RSI, Regression Analysis, MACD and Parabolic SAR. Optimal Trader has a scan feature that lets you input your own criteria to help you find just the right stock for your portfolio. The software then uses statistical and technical analysis to pick trade entry and exit points for stocks, mutual funds and currencies. Optimal Trader is $119 per year to download and use on your computer.
Metastock – Metastock is a stock investing software package that’s been around for a very long time. In fact, it’s one of the oldest on the market with a huge following. With Metastock you have the ability to use a wide variety of technical indicators to evaluate stocks such as moving averages, candle sticks, Fibonacci retracements and many others. The great thing about Metastock is that you have the ability to back test all of your strategies so you can know for sure whether they stand a chance going forward. Metastock’s price is not for the faint of hearth though. The basic end-of-day software package costs $499 plus and additional $565 per year for the data stream.
These are just two of the many great software packages that are out there. There’s one for sure that has the features you need at a great price to streamline your market research.
